What to Wear: Day Tripping

It’s that time of season when the air turns crisp and the temperature dips comfortably. Which makes it the perfect occasion to spend the day or the weekend in the great outdoors, or at least your local park, and meld with nature in all its autumnal glory and fiery hues.

Whether solo or with company, your fall day trip gear should be comfortable and functional without compromising an ounce of style.

The military-inspired field jacket is the classic standard for such excursions, with ample bellows pockets to hold your essentials like your phone and wallet. Because, as you may agree, being in nature doesn’t mean you’re up for completely getting off the grid.

The classic red plaid shirt is a staple for casual autumn weekends. Find one that’s tailored to fit your shape to avoid the lumberjack thing. You also want it long enough to cover your butt but short enough to wear it untucked for more ease and freedom as you relax away.

And of course, a dark pair of slim straight-leg jeans not only grounds the outfit, but makes the outfit by allowing everything you pair with it to pop.

As for the rugged brogue boots? A must for Central Park, although a pair of hiking, worker or combat boots will serve you better if you’re kicking around in the actual woods.

Now the sunglasses. Yes, a quality pair protects your eyes from harmful rays and delays premature wrinkles by preventing you from excessive squinting. But more importantly, it makes you look pretty damn cool.

Finally, the sustenance. And the libation. The day wouldn’t be complete without sustenance, and especially, the libation.

Bring along something delicious to savor in the midst of nature in this handsome heavyweight twill cooler bag, because a generic plastic cooler will simply ruin the whole mood we’re creating here.

An insulated bottle in a gorgeously masculine birchwood design not only harmonizes with the environment, but it also keeps cold drinks cold for 24 hours and hot drinks hot for 12 hours. Which takes your imbibing possibilities to a whole new level for the most pleasurable and stylish day trip ever.
